What do I need to run it?
A DAW that loads CLAP, VST3 or AU (AU on macOS only), on:
- macOS 11 Big Sur or newer. The plugin is universal: it runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and under Rosetta when your DAW does.
- Windows 10 version 1709 or newer, 64-bit (x64).
- Linux on x86_64, with glibc 2.39 or newer (Ubuntu 24.04 and later have it;
ldd --versionshows yours).
On Windows and Linux the plugin is built for x64 only, so a DAW running natively on Arm cannot load it.
| Plugin | Formats | Systems |
|---|---|---|
| Warp Filter | CLAP, VST3, AU | macOS, Windows, Linux |
| SClip | CLAP, VST3, AU | macOS, Windows, Linux |
VST is a registered trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH.
Where do I download it?
On Downloads, open to everyone: the installer is the trial and the full version in one, and your license unlocks it. After you buy, the order email leads to your account, where Licenses has the same installers. For the trial, Try free on the plugin’s page downloads it or emails you the link. If you cannot sign in, write to support from the address you bought with.
Can I download one format alone?
Yes. Under each installer on Downloads, Single formats links an archive of each format on its own: CLAP, VST3 and AU on macOS, CLAP and VST3 on Windows and Linux. Each unpacks to a folder holding the plugin and its third-party notices; copy the plugin into the folder your DAW scans for that format, the one the installer uses (below), or one of your own. On macOS the plugin inside is signed and notarized as the installer’s is.
How do I check the file I downloaded?
On Downloads, with your system picked at the top, each plugin’s row shows its installer’s SHA-256, and the button beside it copies the whole of it. Then work out the SHA-256 of the file you downloaded:
- macOS: in Terminal, type
shasum -a 256, drag the installer onto the window and press Return. - Windows: in Command Prompt, type
certutil -hashfile, drag the installer onto the window, typeSHA256and press Enter. - Linux: in a terminal, type
sha256sum, drag the archive onto the window and press Enter.
It prints 64 letters and digits that should match the copied SHA-256 exactly. If they differ, the file that arrived is not the one we published: delete it and download it again, and write to support if the new one does not match either.
How do I install on macOS?
Open the downloaded .pkg and follow the steps; you can leave out the formats your DAW does not use. It installs the CLAP to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP, the VST3 to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 and the AU to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. Restart your DAW afterwards.
The installer is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it directly. If macOS says it cannot verify the installer, or that it is damaged, the file was changed or broken on the way: do not open it anyway. Delete it, download it again and check its SHA-256 (see How do I check the file I downloaded?).
How do I install on Windows?
Run the downloaded .exe and allow it administrator rights. It installs the CLAP to C:\Program Files\Common Files\CLAP and the VST3 to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Restart your DAW afterwards.
If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, SmartScreen does not know the installer yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
How do I install on Linux?
Unpack the downloaded archive and copy the plugin into the folder your DAW scans: the CLAP to ~/.clap, the VST3 to ~/.vst3. For every user on the machine, use /usr/lib/clap and /usr/lib/vst3 instead. Restart your DAW afterwards.
My DAW does not show the plugin
- Rescan. Most DAWs only scan for new plugins on request. Look for “rescan plugins” in the DAW’s plugin settings.
- Check the format. Bitwig Studio and REAPER load CLAP. Most other DAWs load VST3. Logic Pro and GarageBand load AU only.
- Check the path. If your DAW uses a custom CLAP or VST3 folder, add the default path listed above.
- Check the system. A Mac older than macOS 11, or a DAW running natively on Arm under Windows or Linux, cannot load it (see What do I need to run it?).
- Logic AU validation. If Logic marks the plugin as failed, open Plug-in Manager, select it and choose “Reset & Rescan Selection”.
How do I uninstall?
Delete the plugin files from the folders listed above. On Windows you can also use “Add or remove programs”. Presets and settings live in your user folder and can be deleted separately. The settings are the Sonaut Audio folder there: ~/Library/Application Support/Sonaut Audio/ on macOS, %APPDATA%\Sonaut Audio\ on Windows and ~/.config/Sonaut Audio/ on Linux.
The trial and the activation are kept apart from the plugin files, so an uninstall leaves them for a later install. Both are kept in that Sonaut Audio folder and, on macOS and Windows, in a folder every user of the computer reads: /Library/Application Support/Sonaut Audio/ (or /Users/Shared/Sonaut Audio/) on macOS and %ProgramData%\Sonaut Audio\ on Windows. The trial is also kept in ~/Library/Preferences/com.sonaut.audio.trial.plist on macOS, the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonaut Audio\Trial on Windows and ~/.local/state/Sonaut Audio/ on Linux. So deleting the settings alone does not start the trial over, and on macOS and Windows the plugin stays activated; on Linux, which has no such shared folder, you enter your email address and license key again.
